About the area

Location, Location, Location!  Nowhere else will you find such a fantastic body of water so close to a major city.  Sure, there are the lakes in Madison but they do not even come close to the quality, serenity and northwoods feel of Lake Wisconsin.  You would be located only 30 minutes from both Madison & Wisconsin Dells so ANYTHING you need is just a short drive away.

You can do just about anything on the lake year round.  Fishing, water skiing, swimming, beaches, dining, snowmobiling, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, casino gaming, dozens of golf courses, bird watching, hiking and best yet, RELAXING!

One of the most frequently visited attractions is the Merrimac Ferry which to this day, is still a free ride.  The ferry is a registered landmark and crosses the lake between Okee and Merrimac.  This is definitely something you will want to check out when you are in the area.

Just a few miles away from Lake Wisconsin lies Devil’s Lake and Devil’s Lake State Park. Devil’s Lake State Park is often called the Midwest’s “Yellowstone” and it’s easy to see why. Wisconsin’s most popular state park features amazing vistas from atop rugged, 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a pristine 360-acre lake. As you can imagine, Devil’s Lake State Park is a popular hiking, biking, rock climbing & paddling destination! The park also offers 2 large picnic areas along opposite shores of the lake, both with sandy swimming beaches and yes, there is even a pet friendly beach as well!

If you love snow skiing then you will love Lake Wisconsin and the 2 nearby ski hills.

Devil’s Head Resort attracts skiers and snowboarders of all skill with its 500 vertical feet of excitement and perfectly groomed trails.  Winter vacationers visit this Wisconsin ski resort because it also offers a variety of day and night recreational outlets for all ages.   Devil’s Head Resort also has exquisitely comfortable ski/in-ski/out accommodations for just the right winter getaway.

Devil’s Head Resort also has two eighteen hole golf courses, The Glacier and The Prairie Glen.  Tee times are available from 8:00am to dusk.  The Starter Building will be open from 8:00am to dusk serving fresh grilled items, snacks, and beverages.

Cascade Mountain is just north of Lake Wisconsin on interstate 90/94.  It has 35 trails varying from beginner, intermediate, to advanced, terrain parks, and an 800-foot-long chute for snow tubing. One very popular aspect of Cascade Mountain is the Terrain Park; with many exciting and progressive features it offers thrills for both Skiers and Snowboarders.  The Tech Shop not only sells the latest in clothing and skiing and snowboarding equipment but they just recently add a “state of the art” robotic tuning machine to ensure the best wax and edges for your snowboard and skis.

There are several distinct areas on the lake that range in elevations, home quality, ease of getting to and price.  We are the lake experts and are happy to assist you with your search.  All you have to do is tell us what you are looking for and we will point you in the right direction.
